A delightful urban installation that brings joy to the all people and help building a better local community
Stacking is a design proposal of an urban installation made for Plaza de Santa Ana in Madrid . The design is all about fun and playfulness. The geometry comes from a wide range of things: logs, Jenga, chocolate bars, rice cakes, … You name it! The project is based on the very primitive action of stacking things together and the installation consists of 5 levels of stacked plywood boxes with circular openings. The installation brings more activities to the community – kids can play in between the volumes and climb up and down; Adults can sit around and chat at leisure time; It’s also a good spot for tourists to take pictures and post on Instagram! The design looks into the game of repetition and composition. The rectangular boxes are in the same module, but the circular opening and hatch areas are designed to be in random positions. The inner surface of the boxes is painted pink which aims to make the installation a lively eye catcher.
