Clip-Clip is a design for a new Los Angeles standard streetlight. We design the streetlight not only as a solution with a fixed form, but also as a playful process that will anticipate, adapt and absorb the technological changes and cultural occurrences that are yet to come. The cultural identity of LA has been thriving due to a constant influx of heterogeneous elements. Clip-Clip reflects such an idea – It refers to the at-ease installation process of adding, attaching and updating new elements to the light pole without jeopardizing its formal continuity. The light pole has its root in industrial steel extrusion. Its rounded profile and vibrant color palettes bring a liveness to the cityscape and echoes the rich legacy of Los Angeles’ aesthetics.
Clip-Clip was awarded Honorable Mentions in the “L.A. Lights the Way” International Design Competition among 110 professional entries from around the globe.
Clip-Clip 项目是为洛杉矶市设计的新一代标准路灯。我们并不希望将路灯视为一种一成不变的街道设施，而是将其理解为一个富有趣味、能够持续演化的装置，使其可以预见并适应未来洛杉矶可能出现的技术变化与文化事件。洛杉矶的文化身份始终在多元异质元素的持续汇入中不断生长，而Clip-Clip 正是对这一特质的回应。项目强调一种轻松且便捷的安装逻辑，路灯的构建可以被灵活替换，新设计的构件也可以被增加到灯杆上，这些变化不会破坏路灯整体形式的连续性。灯杆的设计灵感源自工业钢型材挤压工艺，圆润的截面轮廓与鲜明活泼的色彩体系为城市景观注入生机，同时也呼应了洛杉矶丰富而独特的审美传统。
