Needham Split-level House
Needham, Massachusetts, U.S.
Completed, 2025
Located in Needham, Massachusetts, the project is an interior renovation of a typical split-level house. In the existing home, a group of storage spaces occupies the junction between the two staggered volumes. A full-height storage closet opens towards the living room, while two half-height storage spaces are stacked vertically within the same area, opening in the opposite direction towards the bedroom and basement at their respective levels. This arrangement makes efficient use of the vertical space created by the split-level configuration. The renovation retains the two half-height storage spaces while converting the full-height storage room into a powder room. The new program follows the spatial relationship established by the existing level changes, maximizing the use of this junction through a limited intervention.
