Feather

Urban Renewal
Shanghai, China
2nd Prize Winning Entry
2024 Shanghai Infrastructure Design Competition
The project adopts "Feather Veil" as its concept, drawing from the light, rhythmic imagery of feathers, and employs modular prefabricated aluminum panels to create a new façade. The working well uses feather modules to adjust visible glass areas, creating a reality-illusion juxtaposition, while the receiving well adopts a more minimalistic feather construction to establish a visual dialogue with its surroundings. Through the shared language of feather modules, the two wells establish similarity across the river while responding to their respective site uniqueness through different compositions, realizing a poetic transformation of infrastructure architecture within the urban riverside context.
