With so much interior design imagery filling social media, the client made it clear from the beginning that they wanted their home to move beyond ready-made stylistic templates. The project is a partial renovation of an apartment in Charlestown, Boston, with approximately 120 sq ft (11 sq m) of kitchen space being remodeled. The kitchen is not only a functional space for everyday needs, but also an important part of domestic life. A relaxed and enjoyable cooking environment can significantly enhance the experience of everyday living. With this in mind, we approached the design through color, using a bold yet restrained palette to bring energy and brightness into the space. The once monotonous and confined kitchen was transformed into a bright, relaxed, and joyful setting for daily life.
