33 Listening Pairs in the Field

Public Forum
Guangzhou, China
Completed 2025

Our ears are not just organs for receiving sound, but a way of comprehending the world through auditory perception. The walls and the ground absorb vibrations, enhancing our awareness of the body’s capacity to listen to our reactions and the messages we receive from it. These interactions, known as ‘sounding,’ provide a wealth of knowledge about the world before we take action. Drawing inspiration from the concept of the exquisite corpse game, which evolved into six prompts: leveling, sounding, shearing, turning, sweeping, and echoing, to merge diverse and incongruent ideas into a cohesive tableau. This tableau will manifest as a chimera—a fantastical amalgamation of creatures and furniture, drawing in all individuals and elements, ready to adapt and evolve at any moment.
